Larkrise has made it through planning and are pleased that this noteworthy event has been reported in Hereford Times.
Larkrise is a community-led cohousing scheme. It is aiming to build housing that is future proofed to provide sustainable and affordable housing for those in housing need that align with the values and ethos of the intentional community.
It will be providing 20 homes ranging from 1 bed flats to 4 bed semi-detached homes. Also included in the plans are a shared community house, productive gardens and an outdoor play area.
The co-housing, intentional community ethos means that the living environment is created and ran by its members, while each household has their own private dwelling and garden they also share resources, social activities and responsibilities.
The aims of this development were formed 12 years ago and were rather ahead of their time. Today these aims are even more relevant. There is a growing need for better affordable housing provisions in the county. Larkrise is offering just this along with many other benefits that are in line with Herefordshire’s local plan.
The hearing heard from the director of Larkrise, Avril’s, account of the scheme and also some objections made in relation to Larkrise’ planning applications.
There have been concerns raised by local residents about highways safety and interruption of views. The planning committee were satisfied that Larkrise had done its upmost to address these concerns.
The committee unanimously approved the scheme
